Project proposal for Life+ financial instrument
Environment Development Association is preparing the project to be submitted under the environmental fiancial intrument Life+. Every year Lithuania shall receive from 2,5 up to 3,3 m. EUR in order to implement the Life+ projects. Life+ consists of three components: Nature and Biodiversity, Environment Policy and Governance, Information and Communication. This year the Environemtn Development Association is working on the third component to submitt the project under the name of ”Information system – connection between the Baltic states environment”. The project objectives are as following:
- To develop a community based information system (IS) for the Baltic region to solve the environmental problems.
- Encourage better communication among the citizens and governmental institutions with the help of this information system. Encourage citizens to join the communities, unify among themselves and governments.
- Connect the environmental efforts of 3 NGO’s in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to exchange better practice.
The need for such a project arose due to the situation, that even the Baltic states share similar problems, all of them have already developed different solutions and best practices to solve these problems. However, this knowledge is not shared due to lack of communication among the citizens’ communities and governments, as there is not enough of team working; as well as lack of information technologies adoption.
